Silauto is one of the stone hand grinders used in Nepal in the past, but still, in rural areas, it is quite popular. They consist of two parts one called Silauto and the second called Lohoro. Silauto is carved in flat rectangular thick where Lohoro is carved and shaped in a sizable long oval. They are used to make tomato pickles or used to crushed or grind items such as whole garlic, shallots, ginger, dried or green chillis, or even coriander or cumin seeds. There is one saying in the rural Nepal, it tastes much better when they grind any item on Silauto and Lohoro.
